Playa El Coco is located only 30 minutes South of San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua and the closest lodging to the turtle beach La Flor, where sea turtles come to nest and the hatchlings touch water for the first time.

How to get here?
Bus or Shuttle:

From Managua and Granada there are Busses and Shuttles leaving to San Juan del Sur every day. Ask at the place where you're staying for help organizing your travels. It is always safer to use a trustful taxi driver!
From San Juan del Sur there are busses and taxis going to Playa El Coco. They leave from the market at 7am, 1pm, 4pm and 5pm and cost around 50Cordobas (US$2). The drive takes an hour more or less.

Driving into San Juan del Sur you take a left right after the Palí (local Supermarket). You'll go by the cemetary (on your right side). Follow this road for about 5min. Take a left again where the signs say: El Ostional, Playa Hermosa, Playa El Coco 15km, follow it for about 30min. until the road hits the Beach and you see the sign of La Veranera on the right hand side. (4x4 is recommended in the rainy season when we get heavy rains; peak month is october). Don't be surprised when the paved road ends. You are on the right road. The last 20min. are dirt road. The condition of the road depends on the season.
By Taxi

The most convenient and fastest way to get to La Veranera is a taxi that drops you off directly in El Coco. We have established a relationship with a reliable taxi company in our area and can arrange transport for you. Prices are either way (not roundtrip):
